This looks like it's going to be a huge summer of blockbuster movies, I thought maybe we could all state which ones where really looking forward to, what we expect, then as we see them, see which ones deliver and which ones don't.
I've Seen:-
Spiderman 3 - Wasn't as good as it could or perhaps should have been, a bit of a mess really, but still a lot to like.
Looking Forward To:-
Oceans Thirteen - Looks alot better than 12
The Simpsons Movie - Has a lot of hype to live up to, but if it comes close, then it'll be something special
Die Hard 4.0 - Exciting, simply because I love the die hard films, but i've never actually seen one in the cinema, looks like it will deliver.
The Bourne Ultimatum - The first two redefined the genre, and recently MI:3 and Casino Royale have born the marks of that redefintion, now I'm eager to see if Ultimatum can raise the bar even higher.

Spiderman 3 - I havdn't seen any of the other Spiderman movies, it's really not my cup of tea, but a guy asked me out a few weeks ago to watch that so I did. it was decent, but I can't compare it to the 1st and 2nd parts. it was a typical good vs bad film and nicely done for a comic thing.
Ocean's 13 - REALLY looking forward to that. will see it in the next couple of weeks surely. with Al Pacino in it, it MUST be good. I can't wait. they said with 12 they made the mistake of taking the action to amsterdam and europe just wasn't that an intersting setting for a casino movie so now they're back in Vegas and the reviews I've read are looking good again. back in the saddle and back to the quality of 11. I mean, the cast alone makes it worth it to me.
the others, I can't say anything about it, not having seen any of the bourne movies, but then again, I guess I should at some point. they look good and I know Dan likes em
"Yeah, I didn't wanna believe Tony Almeida was a terrorist either, but at some point we just have to deal with the facts. Not with what we want to believe is true."

Yeah, they've admitted they made mistakes, although actually I think the biggest mistake they made was just getting the cast back and hoping that a great cast spirit and chemstry would translate into a good film, because it did with the first one. But they've seen there mistake, and I like how Clooney has been putting it in interviews, "we wanted a chance to show it wasn't a fluke, and that lightning can strike twice."

They really are good, just watched the first one again today, and it sounds odd, but everything which runs through my head as I watch the first two - about why I like them, are exactly the same things which ran through my head when I first saw 24 S1 - Just the right amount of complexity to the plot, right amount of tension, twists in all the right places, brilliantly directed, action which could be "live" for lack of a better word and giving the audience the credit that they'll cope if you don't spell everything out for them. Defintely worth a look given the common interest we all share.

I will likely watch them if I see them shown on TV at some point.

Make no mistake gentlemen, we are in the fight of our lives, against maybe the greatest marine commander in the Vietnam War, I SH*T YOU NOT.
Now a days everybody wants to talk, like they've got something to say, but nothing comes out, when they move their lips, just a bunch of jibber-rish.

Yeah, that does look good, although for me I can just imagine it being quite predictable in many ways, see one Michael Bay film, you've seen them all.

Transformers, it was a cartoon series from the mid to late eighties, about a collection of robots (both good and bad) which could transform into everyday things (cars, trucks, planes etc.) and not look out of place in everyday world. And A live action film with heavy CGI is due out soon.

Heh, Transformers was a classic as a cartoon, used to watch that too. We'll see what comes of the movie.
Simpsons, heheh, looking forward to that, although I am a bit worried how they can sustain the momentum for a whole 90 or so minutes as opposed to a 25 min ep.
Ocean's 13, yep. The reviews have been quite positive. The second one was a bit of a let down , so i'll hope this will be better.
Never really watched any of the Bourne movies or read the books, so I won't comment on it.
As an old Die Hard fan it's interesting to see how the new threats of the 21st century play into Mclane's adventures. But I do get the feeling he might be a bit old for that....both the actor and the character.
And another summer blockbuster that hasn't been mentioned yet: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Anyone seen it?I went to see it a couple of weeks ago and I think it was pretty good. Admitted, a bit confusing at times with so many plot lines, but all in all good entertainment for forgetting everyday life for a few hours.
Tony Almeida: Oh, rules apply to other people, but not to you, right Jack??
Tony Almeida: Well, uh... it's like this. Either fire me, or get out of my chair.

The Simpsons Movie
Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer (anyone?)
Live Free or Die Hard
Maybe Transformers
I've already seen Spiderman 3 though.
ETA: I forgot to add the last Bourne movie.

I might see Silver Surfer, not sure yet. I didn't see the first one as the reviews were terrible.

I saw the first movie like the day after it came out early in the morning with my friend. I would like to go early on Friday and just watch it. I've also been wondering about Pirates too... My friends are saying that it's good, but I heard some say that it's horrible and it's too long... Anyone seen it yet?

I'm looking forward to the Die Hard film, as I enjoyed all the other ones. I noticed some of the pics in the trailer looked very 24-inspired...

From the trailer Die Hard just looks like a 90 minute appeasement for the fanboys. I'm sure I'll go and see it and probably enjoy it, but the worrying sign is that the trailer ends with a reprise of the original film's most famous line, which makes me think that the film will to a point be a parody of itself.
"The water is unpalatable, to improve the taste we added Whiskey. By diligent effort I learned to like it." Winston Churchill

That line is in every die hard film, it's the franchises equivalent of "Bond, James Bond", it had to be in.

yeah im not going to judge die hard 4 until i have seen it, i loved the other 3, 1 and 3 more than 2, but from the trailer their looks like their are good parts and scenes that just look ridiculous.
I went to see Captivity today, the horror flick with Elisha Cuthbert, im a huge Elisha fan, it was an ok film, nothing to go raving about though.

I went to go see Live Free or Die Hard on Tuesday and it was awesome! Now I haven't seen the previous ones before, but my grandma has and she said this movie was good too! I loved it! I really think I haven't seen any good action flick since. But then I'm a younger person and I may have a different view of a 20 year old or something! But has anyone else seen it yet?

Not seen it yet no.
Might go see Hostel 2 on Monday

i haven't seen and won't see Die Hard 4 but from the reviews it sounded like it was a good effort, and that bruce is doing a good job. one comment that had me chuckle is something like, "part of the reason he still looks good is that in most scenes he's shown in half-dark!"
"Yeah, I didn't wanna believe Tony Almeida was a terrorist either, but at some point we just have to deal with the facts. Not with what we want to believe is true."

LOL! Where did you find that J_A? I found the main baddie (Timothy Olyphant) to be a cutie lol for some reason... Why aren't you going to go see it?

well, the main reason is that i'm not too much of a fan of sitting in the movie theater so I'll only go if i really really want to see a movie and even then, i'll sometimes miss it cause i'm too busy or just forget to go. and as for why Die Hard 4 is not on my must see movie list, well, no reasl reason, really. I think i probably saw one or two of the earlier movies, but I'm not too much into the pure action flicks any more.
