#1 Re: No Rules - Enter at your own risk! » Another article about the end of the show » 2010-03-28 18:54:59

Kiefers best character will always be Jack, he put his life and soul into the character and Kiefer became Jack. Im just now thankfull that we got as much good 24 as we did and it will continue being my favourite show. I just hope that the season 8 ending tops the season 7 one, otherwise this could become another season 8 for me.

Guess its the curse of the even numbered series again. If i had a choice i think i would have preffered the season 7 ending.

Or as a post of mine on here a while ago said, the season 3 ending, because it just demonstarated the entire basis of Jack's life. Bad things happens, he risks everything to save lives and people die for it. He has a breakdown in the car, but then gets a call from CTU to just continue on. To me that was Jack riding off into the sunset.

And thats how i want to remember the charcter ending up.

#2 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » It's official - NO Season 9 for 24. » 2010-03-28 18:42:01

well now after a couple of days to think this through and actually process this news. This has come as no real suprise. I have mixed feelings. The first feeling was that something that has been a big part of my life will now be over, sitting down every week to watch the new episode was a ritual that i have carried out from the very beginning.

The other feeling i have refers to 24 losing its way and i can appreciate that i would rather it bow out now that when it is under great scrutiny by critics and the fans. I think 24's downfall has come when the show was produced as an in your face action show, which fans from the beginning will know it wasnt.

It lost that personal feel and that has only been reclaimed a few times during the latter seasons, the season 4 finale (jacks death), President Palmers assasination, Jack's confrontation with Heller in Season 6, and season 7 was a true return to form i thought. But season 8 so far hasnt really done much in terms of moving Jack's story forward, they had a real oppurtunity to keep the change going.

I think this may be down to the writers not wanting to annoy the execs by producing a season like season 1 again, seems to me they just want the all out action.

So im feeling rather bittersweet about the news, and im quite annoyed that the news has come during season 8 and i now have to watch the remaining episodes thinking about how on earth they are going to finish the series. I just hope that the last remaining episodes of season 8 are brilliant and it goes out on a high note. I sure hope the ending makes sense and doesnt seem like an add on to the season.

Recently i watched the Sopranos, i bought the tv boxset and having never watched an episode before i read some reviews and people were saying it was brilliant tv, so i bought it and watched the lot and as i inched closer to the ending episodes i felt rather sad knowing that the show had been cancelled for a while and that these last episodes are "the last". So i think thats how im going to feel with 24.

I just hope that the 24 community keeps the show alive via discussions and rewatches etc, im going to take the oppurtunity when 24 ends to just go start from the beginning and relive it again, as if i had hit stop accidentally on the remote and it hasn't really finished, but yet i have to start watching from the beginning.

I guess it will all come down to.... 3:59:57, 3:59:58, 3:59:59, 4:00:00. Let the rewatch begin.

I agree with you about the fire axe moment, after hearing so much about it i guess it didn't live up to expectations, when i watched it i just thought, cool, he took out 2 guys with an Axe, awesome. But it was not the biggest use of an Axe in the series tongue

Well in preparation for the next 2 episodes being shown on sunday, im going to watch these episodes again, i think i need to analyze these first 2 episodes again before making an in depth comment about them.

#7 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » Defining 24 » 2009-08-20 18:53:34

hmm, that is a hard one, probably a defining moment for me would have to be the Jack and Kim scene from Season 7 where he explains that she cant be there and that he is dying.

To me that one scene shows all the emotion and the toll that the whole series has taken on Jack.

#10 Re: No Rules - Enter at your own risk! » Season 8 filming, pictures! » 2009-06-03 21:04:28

i think when it was mentioned that Season 8 was to be set very close to Season 7, the ending was shaped out more and maybe they felt they couldn't do that due to Jack being ill, it looks like they did this to have Jack back in shape. Although i hope we still have a little of Jack's past condition still present.

well, the casting call for the role of Teri said that they were looking for a 4 year old child. And the cigarette thing, i thought that it may be that but the pictures corrospond with the video of him lifting Teri into the car.

Here are some pictures of Kiefer (sporting an awesome leather Jacket) and Elisha Cuthbert, the actor who also played her husband in Season 7 is present. You will probably also see the addition of Teri, kims daughter.

There is a clip on youtube which shows Jack putting his grandaughter into the car and then talking to the people in the car, probably Kim. He then waves and walks off. Also in the pictures Kiefer has a cigarrete on his ear, maybe Jack has developed a smoking habbit this season. Enjoy everyone.

Jack looks kickass, so we all knew he would recover, but it looks like Jack has got a life purpose back, he's well, he is seeing his daughter and grandaughter and he may possibly be seeing Renne.

Anyone think Jack might be working for CTU in New York?

#12 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » Which s7 episode was your favourite? » 2009-05-29 14:51:20

haha, your not in a rush at all are you, haha. I might watch a few, i have started ripping them for my own use on my ps3 so i can stream them around on my tv downstairs where i dont have a blu ray player etc, only 7 more episodes to convert.

I think im going to watch the first 4 episodes tonight.

#13 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » Which s7 episode was your favourite? » 2009-05-29 10:02:38

yeah a rewatch is essential big_smile

1 or 2 episodes a week though?

I wanted to rewatch the season anyway, would be good to get some more discussion going in the forum about it, now we have watched the whole season.

#14 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » Which s7 episode was your favourite? » 2009-05-28 23:53:53

im also finding it very very hard, i think this is one of those seasons where you just cant pick only one episode due to it having such a great scene, so im going to just list my top 10 favourite scenes, in no order.

1. Jack breaks Tony out of FBI custody
2. Jack, Bill, Tony and Chloe at "ctu" headquarters
3. Jack on the run from the FBI after being setup
4. Kim visits Jack
5. Tony witholds Jacks medicine/ reveals himself to Jack
6. Jack beats Tony, episode 22
7. Tony confronts Wilson
8. Tony and Jack bury Renne
9. Tony and Jack at sunset
10. Jacks talk with the Senator, episode 14

I could go on and on, those are just the 10 i can think of off the top of my head, there are many many more.

#15 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » how does season 7 match up? » 2009-05-28 23:44:59

ok, i didn't redo my list, here goes:

1. Season 7
2. Season 1
3. Season 5
4. Season 2
5. Season 3
6. Season 4
7. Season 6

Season 7 and 1 are so close, Season 1 is the original, but Season 7 is like a new reinvention of the show and as j_a said the depth of the characters and the scenes are even greater due to the six days before hand.

#16 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » 24 season 7 DVD box » 2009-05-28 23:41:13

that is very cool, im really liking the artwork, i think im going to do the sensible thing and buy the complete 1-8 blu ray set that they are bound to release.

Thanks for the link j_a

Tony and Jack are the best characters 24 have ever had, im not pro Jack or pro Tony, they both are so brilliant. I think that some people see Tony differently which is understandable considering his actions and motives this season.

#18 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » how does season 7 match up? » 2009-05-27 21:32:54

after watching the whole season now, i think Season 7 may just be my favourite season, i know it doesn't have Palmer like Season 1, but im going to have to say that Season 7 was on par with Season 1.

#19 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » 7x23 & 7x24 Discussion / 6:00am - 8:00am / Finale » 2009-05-26 23:53:36

Did anyone else feel really really sorry for Tony when he was scrambling for that gun, he just has no one in his life anymore, i have to agree, this season has been my favourite too, minus a couple of annoying casting choices.

Tony has never had so much depth and he has never been as interesting as he is now, some people didn't like the finale, but really it has been one of the best, it leaves so much unanswered and makes me look forward to something more than just a reinvented story, hopefully they can continue the level of character development.

I dont think i have ever enjoyed the emotional moments in 24 as i have this season, if im to be honest im not one for all the big explosions and such, i like the emotional fights such as the Drazen shootout. Also did you notice that when Jack told Renne that Tony has been playing both sides, his voice almost sounded like he completely understood what he has done, after all Jack knows all too well hat has to be done when either family is at risk or have been killed.

The writers have done a fantastic job this season. Also Carlos and Kiefer deserve Emmy's for their performances, especially that scene where Tony is scrambling for the gun and Jack cant kill him. That has to be my favourite scene of the season.

#20 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » 24 Season 7 Blu ray » 2009-05-23 12:11:55

difference when you view it in hd are brilliant, i've been watching the season on sky hd and it doesn't even compare to Blu Ray, i've got like 50 something blu rays and im very impressed with the audio and video on the set.

Im going to be getting a blu ray drive for my pc soon, so hopefully in a couple of days i can post some comparisom pictures of the same scene.

just incase anyone is interested what the dvd set looks like, then here it is, it is in a standard dvd case and isn't that impressive to be honest.

ok, i've finished watching the finale, all i can say is that it was brilliant. The emotion was at an all time high for this series. Kiefer's acting was amazing, but Carlos' was incredible, as he screamed "you killed my son, my son". It was the most powerful Tony moment i have ever seen. And in that moment Tony in my eyes redeemed himself.

Sure he did some bad things, even Tony has said that, it took him 3 years to find Wilson and a furthur year to meet him so im sure Tony has been into some bad goings on, i like Tony's character more now than i ever have. What the writers have done has made him, a more powerful character, he is neither all good, nor all bad. When Tony said to Wilson about killing Michelle, i wasn't really feeling it, but when he said that she was carrying his unborn child and that he lost his entire life in that car bomb, then i saw a man who has lost everything.

I know Tony wanted to kill Wilson and the countries best interest was to keep him alive, but is it so different to what happened to Nina, it's really not. Jack lost his wife to her and he ultimately killed her.

We know are uncertain what will happen to Tony, i think we didn't get the answers to this because Season 8 will deal with this, i am sure though that Carlos will be back and Tony will be playing just as big of a role as he did this season. For me, Tony is as big as he has ever been on the show.

What i really liked about the ending to this is season is that there are so many un answered questions and this gives me an indication that next season is going to be closely linked to this one. We dont know what will happen to Tony, we dont know whether Renne will get Wilson to talk and we dont necessarily know Jack will survive, well im pretty sure he will as there wouldnt be an eighth season otherwise, but will he have any long term affects even after he has recovered.

I'm going to watch the two episodes again, as im still on a high from viewing them. Has anyone else on the board seen it yet?

i thought this episode was great, it really seems to be gearing up to the final play between Jack, Tony and these mysterious guys behind all this.

The kim scenes were a bit laughable, definatly not as bad as some of her old storylines i suppose.

The way that Jack started beating Tony was so brilliant, Kiefer showed real anger when he started hitting him, but when the camera asjusted to Tony's view of him looking up at Jack, Kiefer showed both anger and sadness. It was brilliant.

I cant wait for the last 2 episodes, i cant believe this is it, it's over in the states and just a few days left for us uk viewers. Hopefully i'll be able to watch it tommorow if my blu ray set arrives, it shipped like 7 days ago so i hope it does.

What was everyone elses opinion on the episode?

#24 Re: Current 24 Debriefs » Ep 7x21 Discussion » 2009-05-21 22:34:30

i agree it was a very good episode, i am really loving the technical aspects of these later episodes, they look even more stylish that usual, the lighting is playig a big part and makes the atmosphere amazing.

Jack isn't at the top of his game, im sure none of us would be if we were having seizures from a biological pathogen. I think they have played Jack's character well in that he is functioning, but only just.

And as for Tony, he is as "grey" as he has ever been, i just keep getting the feeling that this is Tony justifying the means with an end.

just wanted to let people know that the recent release of Season 7 on Blu Ray was confirmed as region free, which made a lot of people happy, i know it made me happy as mine was on a plane on the way to me and i felt quite relieved, now it has come about that Fox have region coded the first disc of the set and left the others region free, so for those that want to import it, be warned that you will only be able to view episodes 5-24.

Thanks
