#2 TV (except 24), Movies and Music » What's your favorite Pixar movie? » 2008-07-25 20:59:17

I was just wondering what everyone's favorite Pixar movie was as WALL-E has just recently been released (I haven't seen it yet so please, no spoilers).

Your choices thus far are:

Toy Story (1995)
A Bug's Life (1998)
Toy Story 2 (1999)
Monsters, Inc. (2001)
Finding Nemo (2003)
The Incredibles (2004)
Cars (2006)
Ratatouille (2007)
WALL-E (2008)

My favorite, although I'm a huge fan of all their movies, has to be A Bug's Life, I remember watching it as a child and loving it, whenever I watch it again it fills me with joy and I highly doubt any animated movie will ever beat A Bug's Life in my opinion.

So... what's your favorite Pixar movie?

#3 Re: TV (except 24), Movies and Music » The Dark Knight » 2008-07-25 20:52:26

You beat me to making this topic, LOL... anyway:

The Dark Knight was definitely one of the greatest movies I've ever seen, it contained all of the emotions needed to make a movie great as well as the explosive action sequences not to mention amazing performances delivered including Heath Ledgers (R.I.P.) flawless performance.

This film simply can't be missed, if you haven't seen this movie or have doubts about it... I'm telling you all now, you will not be dissapointed with this movie.

#4 Re: Announcements » REWATCH » 2008-06-17 19:58:34

This needs to be planned again, as I'm currently planning to re-watch all of the seasons and would much prefer if other 24 fans were watching it at the same time as me.

#5 Re: Off Topic » What Summer Movies Have You Psyched and Why? » 2008-06-17 19:56:29

I've psyched Iron Man (which delivered in my opinion), The Incredible Hulk (which delivered in my opinion), The Dark Knight (which I'm hoping delivers and I have no doubt that it will) and finally Adulthood which is the sequel of the british movie Kidulthood which I considered to be the most realistic looks at what life is like for teenagers in east london and also the best british movie ever made.

#6 Re: Fun, Games and Art » The Hardest Working Actor in Hollywood? » 2008-06-17 19:52:28

Leonardo DiCaprio... he constantly acts in some of the greats of cinema such as Titanic, The Departed and Blood Diamond.

#7 Computers, Video Games etc. » Metal Gear Solid 4 Discussion » 2008-06-17 19:48:58

Have you got it?
What do you think about the gameplay?
What do you think about the story?
etc. etc. etc.

I personally believe that Metal Gear Solid 4 is one of the greatest cinematic video games ever made, the gameplay (especially the first half of the game) is simply flawless and the story is of cinematic quality (throughout).

What are your thoughts?

I honestly think 24 has two audiences, it has a smart intelligent audience who are attracted to the show because of it's unique style (writing, direction, acting etc.), and audience it's had since it's started, an audience who realise it's all just TV, and who are clever enough not to let 24's content alter there personal views or opinions.

Then it's second audience who are perhaps more likely to have there opinions changed, the slightly newer audience who are attracted to the "keep america safe at all cost" storylines above all else.

I think the title of the article "can a liberal still enjoy 24?" is a really strange one, and is probably asking the wrong question, I know plenty of liberals who enjoy 24, (myself included) and even Kiefer Sutherland would describe himself as "A liberal with common sense", although I think common sense and liberal is practically the same thing for me.

Ofcourse i'm saying all this from a UK viewpoint, perhaps the landscape looks different the other side of the pond.

Perfect explanation... simple as that.

Voila.  Magnetized media.:cool:

LOL, you are wrong but... funny, LOL. 24nut on the other hand got it perfectly right.

#10 No Rules - Enter at your own risk! » Jon Voight... GOOD? or BAD? » 2008-06-17 19:40:17

As you may or may not know Jon Voight has been cast a leading role as the new villain in the 24 TV-Movie Prequel as well as the second part of 24 Season 7.

I personally think that Jon Voight will play a great villain as he has played villainous roles in many movies of different types such as "Enemy of the State" and "Holes" and in my opinion he pulled those roles off flawlessly.

But what do you think, Jon Voight... GOOD? or BAD?

Hey, what role play game are we talking about (or do I not want to know)?

hmm, in the old days of 24 fan forums, there has been this idea of role-playing 24 style. person A would take Jack's character, person B Tony's etc etc, and then you'd kinda make up the story as you go along (kinda like what the writers have been doing with the show... lol) and kinda play a 24 season.

my review of roleplaying on the forums:

the idea is in itself good, and *could* potentially be fun

downsides:

people not taking it seriously enough - OR people taking it TOO seriously
not enough people taking part OR people taking up a part and then never showing up again
usually a few people would be interested in the beginning, and then fewer and fewer people would stay until me and MF_luder would finish the whole thing - cause I didn't like giving up. lol.

a good consequence:

my desire for writing potential plots for 24 and hence my passion for "fanfictions" has grown out of this very roleplaying, and while there haven't been any notable attempts at roleplaying in... probably years, my writing has continued and matured and I'm now halfway into my 10th or 11th total 24 fanfic, and the 3rd (more-or-less)-novel-length 24 threat day big_smile

so there you go, there's your intel wink

That's a great idea but there is simply too many problems with it for it ever to be possible.

#12 Re: TV (except 24), Movies and Music » The Great Music Debate » 2008-06-17 19:30:19

Unlike many of you on these forums I love many different types of music such as rock, rap and even the occasional pop.
A few of my favorites are:

* Linkin Park
* Fort Minor
* Aerosmith
* Evanescence
* Nickleback
* 2Pac
* Lupe Fiasco
* Lil Wayne
* Jay-Z...
...and many others.

As you can see I have an insane mix of different types of music in my favorites, some would even say a bizarre mix but I think I'm open-minded.

Anyone else here like me?

TONY ALMEIDA IS GOD!!! I'm really happy that he's back, should make for some very entertaining television.

hardy24 wrote:

Unfortunately something like this simply isn't possible at this stage, for a few reasons

1) It would take a fair bit of maintenance to setup and keep running smoothly, on the technical stuff 24fans.com is a one man operation, i.e. just me
2) A real time chat system could quite probably need to have atleast some one person acting in some kind of moderating position all the time in case discussions got out of hand etc., while that might be possible with volunteers etc it's still needs organising which is a lot of work.
3) I honestly believe that a chat system would simply split conversation between it and the forums, simply confusing discussions and not helping the overall situation.

Now these things may be small issues in 3, 6 or 12 months, so I'll keep an eye out, and maybe i'll reconsider the decision in the future.

Thanks for the reply.

Undoubtedly it's over photoshopped, since i'm fairly certain the entire background in computer imagery, and all the actors have been photographed individually and then put together into one photo.

I also noticed that all of the actors were photographed seperately... I don't see why they would do it like that.

What I meant by "sci-fi reject" is that it's just another boring sci-fi show that lasts forever and everyone obsesses over it but I guess you proved me wrong... LOL.

Actually, Battlestar is currently in it's fourth and final season (so it's not gonna last forever) of what has been a definite structured story, again quite similar to Lost, which will end after it's sixth season.

I knew about Lost bt you completely shocked me with the Battlestar Galactica news... I thought that the show is a huge success... why would they end it so soon?

#20 Problems, Suggestions, Questions » Real-Time Chat System? » 2008-04-22 09:12:10

I was simply wondering if it would be possible to have a real-time chat system on the website as I have seen them on many other websites before and they seem to work great and also as I believe that this website has a great community but no way of expressing themselves directly and this real-time chat system would allow them to do this... I firmly believe that doing this will improve the websites user activity drastically, especially when 24 comes back on air.

I am really enjoying myself on these forums but I really do wish that they were more active, is there any way that we could make these forums more active?

Please leave any suggestions and/or plans that you may have here.

Well.. this is just an idea... ( and I' did not read all the threads of this topic)  but maybe you could open a thread where everyone can speak of almost everithing...like the off topic section.. but all in a thread...like a chat you know;) ...maybe in this way users can know a little better each other...

That's a great idea... but I believe that if these forums were to have a real time chat system like I have seen on some other websites that would be far superior to the chat thread... can someone look into this please, to see if it's possible.

I agree with you on 30 days of Night moz. Very taut story line and some surprisingly good acting for this type of film. The vampires were actually quite frightening and at no point did it drop into cheap jump n slash moments. One thought that did occur to me was that the vampires in it would have served better as the monsters in I am Legend, which would have been fantastic if not for the CGI monsters.

I agree, 30 Days of Night is an amazing movie but you can't put down I am Legend simply because of the CGI characters... I am Legend is an amazing movie (I would say better then 30 Days of Night) and I also believe that it wouldn't have been as good if they were to use real people.
